Tonight’s game will mark just the second of the preseason for the Canucks, who fell to the Kraken by a 5-3 final on Sunday. The Flames, meanwhile, played two split-squad games versus the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, winning 3-2 in Edmonton and losing 3-0 in Calgary.

After going with a fairly veteran-filled roster on Tuesday, the Flames will be sending plenty of prospects out to Abbotsford. They have just six players from last year’s team making the trip in Connor Zary, Joel Farabee, Martin Pospisil, Joel Hanley, Jake Bean, and Daniil Miromanov.

Thatcher Demko, Tyler Myers, Nils Höglander, Marcus Pettersson, Filip Chytil, and rookie defenceman Tom Willander are expected to suit up. Conor Garland was also supposed to play, but is nursing a minor injury.

This will mark the first of two preseason outings between the Flames and Canucks, who will also face off against each other at the Saddledome on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The two will again meet up a short time later in the regular season, duking it out at Rogers Arena on Thursday, Oct. 9, in what will be the Canucks’ home opener.
