David Beckham‘s 2023 Netflix documentary, Beckham, covered the soccer legend’s prolific two-decade career in detail, but it was his wife, Victoria Beckham, who stole the show with her cheeky humor and wit. The vet of the 1990s girl group the Spice Girls went viral after admitting — at David’s urging — that her dad drove her to school in a Rolls-Royce, despite initially insisting to the doc’s cameras that she grew up working-class. (Weeks after the series debuted, she hilariously released a T-shirt that read “My Dad Had a Rolls-Royce.”)

Now she’s in the driver’s seat. Fans were thrilled to hear the former Posh Spice is getting her own Netflix documentary, Victoria Beckham, out Oct. 9, which centers on her fashion and beauty lines and her journey from girl group to respected style icon. For three decades, the 51-year-old has been defined as a bubblegum star, a WAG to soccer player David and a mother of four. (She and her husband of 26 years are parents to sons Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14.) She’s ready to stand in her own light. “It’s taken this long for me to feel confident enough in what I do and my brand,” she recently told Bloomberg. As a source tells Star, “This is an exciting chapter for Victoria. She has the opportunity to reinvent herself.”

Getting Deep

It was David who encouraged his wife to sign on for the three-part series. “It wasn’t the easiest thing to get her to agree to, but in my opinion she was the star of mine,” David told the Today show in January. “She’s a very clever and hardworking lady, so I want people to see that.” Victoria, who launched her fashion label to acclaim in 2008 and weathered financial difficulties before finally hitting profitability in 2022, admitted to Bloomberg that she “wasn’t sure” people would “want to see what I do every day.”

Self-doubt has followed the former Victoria Adams. Though she’s claimed to only exercise in high heels, among other extravagances, she doesn’t always feel posh. “I always had to work very hard just to be OK at anything,” she’s admitted, likening herself to an “underdog.” On the show, she recalls not being taken seriously when she first entered the fashion world. “People thought, ‘She’s a pop star. She’s married to a footballer. Who does she think she is?’”

While the series will focus on the day-to-day running of her successful clothing line and Victoria Beckham Beauty brand, viewers will also see more personal ups and downs. “Nothing is sugar-coated,” she promised Bloomberg. “There are tears.” She opens up about being bullied in school while growing up in Essex, England. “I desperately wanted to be liked,” she says in the trailer. And, according to an August report by Page Six, the famously rail-thin star will address the body-image issues she’s struggled with for years. “There were times in the past that I haven’t felt confident enough to sit on a beach and watch my children play,” she told Grazia magazine in 2024. “I remember after I had Brooklyn, my first outing was on the front page of the newspaper, with arrows pointing to where I needed to lose weight.” (She’s also admitted to getting her breast implants removed, saying to Allure, “If I’m honest, I wish I’d never [gotten them.]”)

Behind-The-Scenes Drama

The series, which began filming last August, will also touch on her infamous feud with her son Brooklyn and daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz, which began before their wedding three years ago and worsened in May, after the two declined to attend David’s 50th birthday party in Miami. “Victoria knows people are buzzing about her family drama with Brooklyn and Nicola,” says the source, adding, “It’s static that she could live without.”

Docuseries or not, she’s hopeful they will mend fences soon. “Victoria wants the feud to be over because life is too short, but she also won’t apologize for things she didn’t do. Brooklyn and Nicola need to meet her halfway,” says the source. “She misses those days when the kids were younger, and they were all one big happy family under one roof,” the source adds. “She wishes for happier times ahead.”
