While it is always difficult to predict who the star performers will be ahead of a give Ryder Cup, there is no doubt that Shane Lowry will have a big impact on the European team in this year’s edition.
The Offaly man has embraced the event fully since his first appearance in 2021, becoming the heartbeat of the European side. He will have a big say on proceedings on the court and play a massive role in the team room over the coming days at Bethpage.
Lowry has admitted that he has been targeting this year’s Ryder Cup since the start of the season, with all his hard work set to come down to the next three days of play in New York.

Shane Lowry Couldn’t Resist Offaly All-Ireland Comment Before Ryder Cup
While the Ryder Cup is now the Shane Lowry’s mecca, there was a time when his thoughts of potential sporting glory were elsewhere.
Speaking to the media this afternoon, the Irishman was asked whether he ever dreamed of having his name sung by golf fans at the Ryder Cup when he was younger. As a proud Offaly man, he had different ambitions.

I probably dreamed of playing for Offaly in Croke Park and winning an All-Ireland medal!
Look, I never thought I would be sitting here, let alone for the third time. To be walking on to that first tee tomorrow with not only your family and friends like a normal week but your country and your continent behind you, it’s pretty special.
My goal is to give them my best this week and hopefully be on the winning side…
This is what I live for. This is what I play golf for now.
Not that I don’t not care about anything else, but it’s like, literally, this is it, this is what I play for. As soon as we finish here Sunday evening I’ll be thinking about Adare Manor.
It’s just who I am. I’ve been around a long time in the game. I feel like I’ve achieved a certain amount of stuff that I’ve really been lucky to achieve, and I’d put this up there.
You know, a win this week would be up there with all of that.
Then obviously to compete in Adare Manor, as well, would be incredible.
Shane Lowry has certainly fallen in love with the Ryder Cup, with the Offaly man laser focused on delivering a first victory for the European team on American soil since 2012 over the coming days.
It should be a fantastic few days of action.
