Investigators are searching for a woman who is believed to have altered a pathway barrier, resulting in a fatal cyclist collision late last week.
On Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, police were informed that a cyclist had died as a result of injuries sustained during a collision that is believed to have occurred around 10:45 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, on a pathway under the Reconciliation Bridge, in the 500 block of Riverfront Avenue S.E.
A review of CCTV in the area has revealed that minutes before the collision occurred, a woman is observed interfering with a pathway barrier, causing it to encroach onto the cycle path.
The cyclist, who was riding an e-bike, was traveling eastbound on the path, unaware of the obstruction and collided with the swinging arm of the barrier, knocking him to the ground. The cyclist, a man in his 80s, was transported to hospital and sadly succumbed to his injuries on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025.
Investigators are looking to locate a woman who may have information about this case and are releasing CCTV images in hopes of identifying her.
The woman is described as having long dark hair tied into a ponytail with a white ribbon, and was wearing a shirt that read “Peace for All”. Photos of the woman are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
