A person was taken to hospital in a serious condition following an assault on George St shortly after midnight this morning.
A police spokesman said they were first called to the “grievous assault” on George St at about 12.30am.Â
One person suffered serious injuries and was taken to Dunedin Hospital.Â
Police arrested a 24-year-old man who is due to appear in Dunedin District Court today, charged with wounding to intent to injure.Â
The scene remained cordoned off this morning with personal items and pools of blood lying in the street.
More than a dozen shops were behind the police tape.
