Families seeking asylum will be offered up to €10,000 by the State to drop their international protection claim and return home, while individuals will be offered up to €2,500.

Justice minister Jim O’Callaghan has increased the financial assistance available as part of the voluntary return programme, which helps someone return home before a deportation order is issued, for a limited time.
