Celtic have failed to score for a fourth time this season in a goalless draw at home to Hibs.

In truth, Celtic created more than enough to win the game. A number of players will be ruing missed chances that could’ve secured the three points.

But in the end, Brendan Rodgers was left the most frustrated man in Glasgow as Hearts moved two points clear as unlikely table toppers.

With the Hoops straight back into Europa League action on Thursday, here are five things we learned from the action at Parkhead.

Five things we learned from Celtic vs Hibernian

Five things we learned from Celtic vs Hibernian Sebastian Tounekti: Close, but no cigar

Sebastian Tounekti has the pace, positivity and creativity to get supporters off their seats every time he gets the ball.

All he need to add is the end product. The Tunisian touched the ball 62 times in his 74 minutes, the same figure as the other two starting attackers combined.

He tried to give Josh Mulligan a torrid time with his constant dribble attempts, but the Hibs man can ultimately be happy with how he dealt with the Hoops’ new danger-man.

Marcelo Saracchi is worthy competition for Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney may have been Celtic’s main left-back signing this season given his pedigree and wage packet, but Marcelo Saracchi looks an excellent find as his competitor.

The Uruguayan’s total of three key passes was more than any other player on the field. If anyone deserved the three points today, it was him.

He consistently showed his positivity from the left side today and could’ve had a sensational goal if he wasn’t denied by the crossbar in the first half. A highly commendable performance.

Can Daizen Maeda play on the right after all?

Much of the discussion this week has been about Daizen Maeda’s present position in the Celtic team, so it was telling that he was handed a starting berth by Rodgers.

He should’ve had an assist when a gilt-edged chance was missed by Kelechi Iheanacho in the first half. He has certainly played worse so far this season – he can be seen as an option on the right for now.

Anthony Ralston or Colby Donovan?

Rodgers faces a selection headache for the Braga match after an impressive showing from Anthony Ralston on his return to the team.

Colby Donovan earned rave reviews for his performance in Belgrade, and rightly so. But it looks like it won’t be a straightforward task to manage the minutes of the squad’s right backs from now on.

Luke McCowan impressive again for Celtic

Luke McCowan could well have been in a Hibs shirt today had things gone differently last summer.

He was determined to make the move to his boyhood club though, and performances like today show why his move was worthwhile.

Tidy in his footwork and positive when he can be, McCowan is a handy squad player for Rodgers’ side despite intense competition for the midfield positions.
