Ontario Provincial Police say an individual in eastern Ontario is facing several serious criminal charges following an investigation into intimate partner violence and child abuse, including an allegation of attempting to murder a child.
Police released few identifying details about the individual in question on Saturday, but said in a news release that the person was arrested on Friday and is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville at an unspecified date.
The accused, described by police as being 26 years old, is charged with attempted murder, sexual assault of a person under 16, sexual interference, intimidation, and two counts each of forcible confinement, assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm by choking, suffocation or strangulation, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
The individual remains in custody.
OPP say the court date and the identity of the accused remain undisclosed in order to protect the identities of the victims.
