Leeds County OPP say they’ve charged a man with attempted murder and 13 other counts after he allegedly tried to kill a child.
Officers launched an investigation into allegations of intimate partner violence and child abuse Friday morning, the police force said in a Saturday afternoon news release.
The 26-year-old man was later arrested in the Rideau Lakes, Ont., area, an OPP spokesperson told CBC.
In addition to attempted murder, the man was also charged with:
Sexual assault on a person under 16 causing bodily harm. Sexual interference. Intimidation. Two counts of forcible confinement. Two counts of assault. Two counts of assault with a weapon. Two counts of assault causing bodily harm by choking, suffocating or strangling. Two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
OPP said they are not naming the man in order to protect the identity of any victims.
He remains in custody ahead of a future court date in Brockville, Ont., police said.
