Concerns are growing over Britain’s compulsory new “BritCard” ID and its capacity to cause grey-economy workers to cross the Border into Ireland.
Sources last night confirmed there was no ministerial advance warning from No 10 or new home secretary Shabana Mahmood, but there was previous advice at official level.
