A man has died following a road traffic collision on the Ballygowan Road in east Belfast.

Emergency services were called to the scene where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle shortly after 11pm on Saturday.

Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident, and investigations were carried out.

Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said: “Just after 11pm, we received a report of a pedestrian having been struck by a vehicle in the Ballygowan Road area.

“Our officers attended alongside emergency service partners, however the man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to contact them on 101.
