Voters in Toronto’s Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park will be heading to the polls on Monday to elect their next city councillor following the resignation of their long-time representative, Jennifer McKelvie.
McKelvie, who represented the ward from 2018 to 2025, stepped down last May after being elected as the Liberal MP for Ajax.

At its meeting last May, Toronto City Council declared the office of Councillor for Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park vacant and opted to fill it by holding a by-election.
In total, 20 candidates are vying for the seat.
Tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., eligible voters will be able to cast their ballot at 37 voting places throughout the ward. Electors must do so at their assigned voting location, which is found on the MyVote webpage.
To receive a ballot at one of these sites, voters must present ID showing their name and qualifying Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park address.
Eligible electors with acceptable identification who are not currently on the voters’ list can also be added to it at the voting place on election day.
A Voter Information Card (VIC) was mailed to each voter in the ward who was on the voters’ list by 4:30 p.m. on Sept, 4.
Eligible voters who were on the list by 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 can review, print, or download a digital copy of their VIC to a mobile device.
And while a VIC is not needed to vote and is not an acceptable form of identification for voting purposes, eligible voters are encouraged to bring their (paper or digital) VIC with them to the voting place for a faster experience, the city said in a news release.
More information about VICs and acceptable identification documents for voting purposes can be found on the Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park by-election webpage.
