Even though the Europeans would secure a massive win at Bethpage over the last few days, the lasting memory of the 2025 Ryder Cup might well be the poor behaviour of the American spectators at the New York venue.
The fans certainly overstepped the mark on a number of occasions over the course of the three days of play. Rory McIlroy, in particular, received some disgusting abuse from the home crowd, with his wife also being targeted.
The barrage of insults understandably led to some tense moments on the course, with a number of spectators also ejected due to their behaviour.

Rory McIlroy Has One Ask Of Irish Golf Fans Ahead Of 2027 Ryder Cup
Rory McIlroy got more than his fair share of abuse from the Ryder Cup galleries in recent days, something he feels is not a good look for the sport.
Speaking at European team press conference at Bethpage, he suggested that a line had been crossed by some at the event. He also share his belief that we would not see similar scenes from the home fans when the Ryder Cup comes to Adare Manor in 2027.

Look, I don’t think we should ever accept that in golf. I think golf should be held to a higher standard than what was seen out there this week.
Golf has the ability to you unite people. Golf teaches you very good life lessons. It teaches you etiquette. It teaches you how to play by the rules. It teaches you how to respect people.
Sometimes this week we didn’t see that. So no, this should not be what is acceptable in the Ryder Cup. But you know, we will be making sure to say to our fans in Ireland in 2027 that what happened here this week is not acceptable.
You know, come and support your home team. Come and support your team.
I think if I was an American, I would be annoyed that I didn’t hear a lot of shouts for Scottie today, but I heard a lot of shouts against me. It’s like, support your players. That’s the thing.
Well said.
You would have high hopes that the Irish and other European fans will give a much better account of themselves than the American spectators did this time around, while you would also assume that such a level of abuse would not be tolerated by the authorities in Adare Manor.
