The McCafferty’s pub chain is set to grow its presence in Donegal Town with the opening of another bar.

The company has acquired the former Dom’s on the Pier unit, which ceased trading earlier this year. The new establishment, to be known as McCafferty’s at The Pier, will also offer food.

“Get ready for a warm Irish welcome, live music, delicious meals and the unforgettable atmosphere you already know and love, with the added bonus of a view of the pier,” said a notice from the company.

The McCafferty’s journey began in Donegal Town on Friday, 13th January 2017, when the Boyle family bought a renowned bar on the Diamond. The bar was named in honour of generations of McCafferty families from the local area.

The chain quickly moved across the water to the UK, opening bars in North Harrow and Epsom in London. The fourth McCafferty’s opened in Letterkenny in 2018.

The portfolio has since expanded into Spain and the UAE, and it now comprises 18 McCafferty’s pubs worldwide.

The brand made international headlines in September when its expanded location in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai, was officially certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest Irish bar, measuring 32,000 square feet.

With the new addition, McCafferty’s will soon have five locations across County Donegal: two in Donegal Town, and others in Letterkenny, Dungloe, and Lettermacaward.

Details on the opening of McCafferty’s at The Pier are due to be announced.
