Gardai are hunting a cyclist who snatched a woman’s handbag as she was waiting for a bus in the village of Muff.
The shocking incident happened around 9.30pm on Wednesday night last on the Aught Road.
The woman was waiting at the bus stop when a lone cyclist passed her by and suddenly snatched her bag.
The thief made off in the direction of Quigley’s Point.
Gardai say he was wearing all black clothing and had his hood up.
The green handbag contained a white wallet (containing a small amount of sterling cash and a Lloyds bank card), Samsung ear pods, an Apple Laptop, an Apple iphone and a VR headset.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
A spokesperson said “We appeal to anyone who may have observed this cyclist in the area to get in touch with Gardaí.
“If anyone travelled along that route (Aught Road, Muff) between 9pm and 10pm with a dash-cam or within the general area of Muff village, we ask them to make the footage available to Gardaí.
“Should anyone come across these types of items for sale on a second hand basis, we ask them to alert Gardaí. Buncrana Gardaí may be reached on 074-9320540. The Garda Confidential line can be contacted on 1800 666 111.”
