187kg of cocaine was discovered aboard Timothy Clark’s small aircraft, which crashed in a sugarcane field

Investigative journalists at Bellingcat report that Timothy James Clark, a former Melbourne stockbroker, has links to an alleged associate of the Irish mob.

The associate is facing charges connected to a botched multi-million dollar cocaine shipment to Western Australia.

The crashed aircraft was registered in Zambia, but had been operating in Brazil for the last two years; however, the flight’s final destination is unknown.

The vessel was discovered in a sugarcane field on September 14th.

Bricks of cocaine, with a street value of approximately AUD$80million (€45 million) branded with ‘SpaceX’ were discovered at the scene.

Globo.com report that Clark was the sole occupant of the aircraft, which attempted to land in the field, but failed.

The plane was fitted with extra fuel tanks and had its transponder, which would allow for the craft to be monitored by air traffic control, turned off.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the flight to South America was not the 46-year-old’s “first rodeo”, and alleged that he had been involved in drug smuggling in Western Australia last year.

In December 2024, Australian cops charged German businessman and Kinahan ally Oliver Andreas Herrmann and a second man were arrested and charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug following a three-month investigation.

200kg of cocaine worth an estimated $65m (€38m) was discovered in suitcases in their hotel room.

A hardware cryptocurrency wallet, night vision goggles and aviation equipment were also discovered.

It’s alleged that Herrmann met a “small aircraft” at an airstrip the day before his arrest.

In March of this year, Bellingcat and The Sunday Times revealed how Hermann’s profile on running app Strava covertly tracked the cartel’s movements around the globe.

The locations of Hermann’s runs coincide with his bosses’ movements and include a visit to Dublin, during which time he logged several runs.

Hermann posted ten times from Dublin between February 8th to 14th, 2016, just days after the Regency shooting, which saw Kinahan footsoldier David Byrne killed on February 5th.

Hermann also visited Dublin numerous times throughout the same year logging a slew of runs in the capital during 2016.

He logged further activity in 2017, 2018 and 2019 dubbing a 16km loop from Glencullen to Stepaside at the foothill of the Dublin mountains, his “favourite” place to run in Ireland.

At one point he also bragged about “passing Bono’s house” on a run along Dublin’s coastline.
