On the same date, he is accused of driving without a licence on Abbey Street, Wicklow town. Further charges relating to that incident include driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
He is also accused of driving without insurance on March 9, 2025, at Newrath, Rathnew, and of failing to produce an insurance certificate when requested by gardaí.
In a separate matter, he is charged that on July 2, 2025, on Greenane Road in Ballygannon, Rathdrum, he allegedly drove a Thwaites front dumper without due care and attention, thereby causing the death of another person, namely John Maher.
The court heard that Mr Schatz is a Georgian national.

Michael O’Connor, solicitor for the defendant, told the court that his client has been unable to arrange a surety for High Court bail.
The court was told Mr Schatz has no family in Ireland, but his wife has been in constant contact with Mr O’Connor and was in court to support her husband.
The High Court agreed to release Mr Schatz on continuing bail under the condition that he could meet a surety of €7,000 and a lodgement of €2,500.
Mr O’Connor told the court that the “gardaí are dithering”. He added that his client has been in custody for a substantial period.

Judge David Kennedy commented on the complexity of the case and noted that his notes from Judge O’Leary in August stated: “Time is passing.”
The court heard that a substantial file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused was remanded in custody by consent. Mr Schatz is permitted to take up bail in the High Court. The matter is adjourned to Bray District Court on October 13, 2025 for mention.
