Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the signing of hot prospect goalkeeper Rory Mahady on a short term loan deal from Leeds United.
Starting his career in his native Scotland with Celtic, the 19-year-old would be snapped up by the Yorkshire based side in 2022 and quickly became one of the Whites highly tipped prospects which was reflected in him signing a new three year deal this Summer.
Mahady made 17 appearances in Premier League 2 last season and helped the very Leeds Under-21s side that defeated the Iron a couple of weeks ago, lift the National League Cup in 2024-25. He has previously represented Scotland at U19 level, winning eight caps, and received his first U21 call-up in March.
The nature of this loan sees Mahady join United ahead of tonight’s encounter with York City, providing an instant impact due to Rory Watson being unable to feature against his parent club and Maison Campbell being injured to face his former side.
