“It does work out. It’s almost better than being a split couple; me being in New Zealand while she’s away, or vice versa,” he said.
“We get to travel together and stop off at each other’s events and support each other, so it’s quite nice.”
Zoe Hobbs called her engagement to Stewart Dodson ‘the easiest yes of my life’.
The news comes after Hobbs’ World Championship campaign in Tokyo, which she fell agonisingly short of qualifying for the 100m final.
Posting a time of 11.09s in her semifinal, Hobbs missed the mark for the top eight by 0.06s. That came after she missed out on the final two years ago by just 0.01s.
Speaking after the event, Hobbs said she was looking forward to taking a bit of a mental break to reset ahead of next year, after running a full schedule with her season starting last December.
For Dodson, the news comes off the back of a third-placed finish for the Swiss SailGP team at the home event, which equals their best result of the season – setting the same mark at the regatta in Portsmouth in late July.
Dodson will be back on the handles this weekend for the penultimate event of the SailGP season in Cadiz, Spain.
