Martin Zubimendi’s stunning volley against Nottingham Forest and Gabriel Martinelli’s fine lob versus Manchester CIty have been nominated for the Premier League’s September Goal of the Month award.
Zubimendi opened his account for us in style last month, volleying in our opening goal against Forest at Emirates Stadium. The Spaniard doubled his tally later in the contest, heading home Leandro Trossard’s cross. In a stellar month for Zubi, he’s also been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award.

Following on from that sensational effort from our summer signing, Martinelli is also up for the award thanks to his dramatic equaliser against Manchester City.
Coming on with 10 minutes to go with the score at 1-0 to the visitors, Gabi latched onto Eberechi Eze’s clipped ball over the top before lobbing Gianluigi Donnarumma to send Emirates Stadium into raptures.Â
Five other goals are contenders for the award. Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch’s strike against Everton and Anton Stach’s free-kick in Leeds United’s win at Wolves are included, as is Tyrick Mitchell’s winner for Crystal Palace against West Ham United.
Harry Wilson’s effort during the west London derby between Fulham and Brentford while the Bees’ Igor Thiago is recognised for his first goal against Manchester United and is the final candidate for the prize, which we last won in December 2021 when Alexandre Lacazette rounded off a sensational team move against Southampton.
You can vote for Zubi or Gabi now, with the deadline closing on Monday, October 6. The winner will be announced on Friday, October 10.
