Tributes have been paid to a man who was killed in a tragic workplace accident in Co Tipperary on Monday evening September 29th.

The horrific incident took place at premises in Fethard, a small town in the south of the county, shortly before 5pm yesterday evening.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident and his body was removed to Waterford University Hospital.

He has been named locally as Neil Barry (62) who lived at Cashel in County Tipperary but who was originally from Glenville in Cork.

Paying tribute Haulage company Ballywalter Haulage said ‘’From all at Ballywalter Haulage Ltd we would like to express our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to all the Barry Family on the sudden passing Of Neil.

“Neil was always a pleasure to deal with and a pure Gentleman’’.

A former employee also paid tribute, he said ‘’Still can’t believe it Neil. Rest now my friend you were a great boss and a good friend in the job. I will miss you’’.

He is survived by his children Amy, Rebekah, Robert and their mother Ancilla and his mother Patricia as well as siblings Caroline, Kevin and Raymond.

His remains will repose at Barry Bros. Funeral Home, Hazelwood, Glanmire on Thursday (October 2nd) from 5.00pm to 6.00pm.

Requiem Mass at 3.30pm on Friday (October 3rd) in St Joseph’s Church, Glenville.

Funeral afterwards to the Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority (HAS) said “The Health and Safety Authority is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation.

“As such, no further information is available at this time.”

Gardai confirmed that its officers also attended the scene of the accident. The force will conduct a separate investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death.

A garda spokeswoman told us: “Gardai and emergency services responded to a fatal workplace accident at a premises in Fethard, Co. Tipperary shortly before 5:00pm yesterday, Monday 29th September 2025.
