A man has appeared in court in connection with a Tralee crash which left a cyclist seriously injured.
A man in his 40s was seriously injured following a road traffic collision yesterday morning on the Oakpark Road.
30-year-old Ioan Plumb of Pluckeen, Caherslee, Tralee appeared before Listowel District Court today facing one charge.
Ioan Plumb appeared before Judge David Waters in person at Listowel District Court in relation to the incident.
The 30-year-old faces one charge of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm on October 1st at Oakpark Road, Tralee.
A Romanian interpreter was sworn in to the court and solicitor for the accused, Brendan Ahern applied for bail.
Inspector Tim O’Keeffe outlined that the state consented to bail subject to a number of conditions, including he hand in his passport and that he sign on at Tralee Garda Station three times a week.
Mr Ahern confirmed his client’s passport has already been handed in, while a cash bond of €5,000 had been entered to the court.
Judge Waters inquired on the time line of DPP directions and asked given the nature of the crime would it likely be trial on indictment.
In response, Inspector O’Keeffe confirmed this is likely the case, while instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions may take some time.
The judge remanded Mr Plumb on bail subject to several conditions, to appear before the court again on October 16th for directions.
