Social care worker Helen Fox (41) was surprised when at the age of 26 she discovered she was pregnant. Growing up, she had always been something of a tomboy and hadn’t considered herself to be particularly maternal. “It [being pregnant] terrified me,” she laughs.
It was not the route she had anticipated to take. “But, of course, it turned out to be the best thing to happen to me.” While she was pregnant, Helen also came to terms with her sexuality and came out as a gay woman.
