A man has died following a helicopter crash in Sydney’s southwest.

About 1.30pm on Friday, emergency services were called to a carpark in Birch Street, Bankstown, after reports a helicopter had gone down.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a man at the scene, but he died from his injuries. 

He is yet to be formally identified.

A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau  will investigate the cause of the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
