Hamilton police are searching for three people following an alleged distraction theft in the city’s east end last month.

Police say the reported theft happened on Sept. 24 at around 1:15 p.m. in the area of Main Street East and Parkdale Avenue North.

A man was standing in front of his home when an older model black Ford Explorer pulled up, police say.

Three people were in the vehicle and the front female passenger began speaking to the man before she “pulled him by the neck toward the vehicle while placing a necklace on him.”

While she was doing this, police say she and the two other people in the car spoke to the man while one of them removed his gold necklace.

Police say two of the people in the vehicle were females. One is described as being in her 40s with a large build, tan complexion, black hair that was tied back, and wearing a red shirt. The second is in her 30s with a thin build, tan complexion, brown hair, and was wearing a black and white shirt.

The male driver is described by police as being in his 30s, with a tan complexion and bald.

Last month, Hamilton police released doorbell camera footage of another daytime distraction theft targeting a senior at a home in Flamborough.
