The former England football legend and commentator Gary Lineker used his post-match remarks to extend an apology to the Nigerian striker:

I want to apologize to Victor Osimhen. I used to say he sometimes got lost on the pitch, but things are totally different now. I shouldn’t have made those kinds of comments, that’s on me.
