A man is fighting serious injuries in hospital after he was shot during a home invasion in Melbourne’s north-west overnight.
Multiple offenders broke into a house in Gladstone Park just before 1.30am where a couple were sleeping inside, police allege.
It is believed the intruders were confronted by a 60-year-old man, who was then shot and assaulted with weapons.

He sustained serious injuries from the gunshot wound and was rushed to hospital.
A 57-year-old woman was threatened with a gun but was not physically injured, police said.
The offenders fled the scene in a white Haval SUV and remain on the run.
Investigators believe the incident was targeted.
