Collingwood premiership forward Brody Mihocek is set to join Melbourne.
It’s been confirmed Mihocek will sign with the Demons as an unrestricted free agent less than 24 hours after the Magpies’ best and fairest.
The 32-year-old departs Collingwood after booting 267 goals from 159 AFL games across eight seasons including playing an integral part in the 2023 premiership.

Reports state Mihocek will cross to Melbourne on a two-year deal, which is the same length as what the Magpies were offering.
Mihocek originally joined Collingwood in the 2017 rookie draft as a mature-aged player via Port Melbourne and made his AFL debut at age 25.
He led the Pies’ goalkicking in five-straight seasons including the 2023 premiership campaign, with his 36 majors this season ranked second for Craig McRae’s side.

“Brody has played a key role within our football program over the past eight years, and we thank him for his contribution to the black and white,” Collingwood list boss Justin Leppitsch said.
“We respect Brody’s decision to pursue his free agency rights and explore opportunities at Melbourne.
“We wish him, his partner Polly and their son Arthur all the best for this next chapter. As a 2023 premiership player, Brody will always be a Collingwood person.”
While Mihocek will don the red and blue from next year, the Pies just days ago retained veteran forward Jamie Elliott on a two-year deal after a career-best season and significant interest from Gold Coast.
Meanwhile, the futures of uncontracted veteran duo and fellow 2023 premiership Pies Mason Cox and Tom Mitchell in black and white remain uncertain.
Collingwood is expected to add 24-year old Sydney key forward Jack Buller during the trade period and the Pies have also been linked to delisted Tigers defender Jacob Blight, 23.
The Pies appear unlikely to pursue Steven May after being linked to the Demons defender.

Melbourne is set for a busy first off-season under Steven King as the club moves into a new era, with the signature of Mihocek its first key move to bolster the forward line.
“We are really excited to add someone of Brody’s experience and character to our group,” Demons list manager Tim Lamb said.
“He has proven himself as a consistent performer and his ability to compete in the air and hit the scoreboard will be a great asset for us.
“Brody is a team-first player who we believe will have a strong impact on our younger forwards and complement the mix we are building.”
The Dees’ most significant piece of business is striking an appropriate deal with Gold Coast in exchange for Christian Petracca as Melbourne makes a bold play for contracted Suns young gun Bailey Humphrey.
King and Melbourne assistant Nathan Jones this week met with Humphrey, who’s drawing interest from multiple Victorian clubs in an attempt to lure the 21-year old home.
The Demons missed out on Saints-bound Sam Flanders but have been linked to St Kilda ruckman Max Heath for relief behind Max Gawn.
Meanwhile, May and Clayton Oliver have been advised to find new homes, with Oliver meeting with GWS in Sydney this week.
