It’s Taylor Swift-mania around the globe with the drop of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, which features a subtle nod to Vancouver.
However, don’t get your hopes up about it teasing a show or event here; it has to do with the Eras Tour.
Today, Oct. 3, was the official release date for the global sensation’s new album. However, the album, much of which is inspired by Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce, has received mixed reviews. Some publications are heaping praise on the album, while others are not.
“The Life of a Showgirl,” the last track on her new album, features Sabrina Carpenter. The track-by-track version includes some words from Swift about her Vancouver show, which was the final stop on the Eras Tour. It also features some crowd noise from that show.
“One thing that I really love about the ending of it is that we actually ended the song with actual crowd noise from my last Eras Tour show in Vancouver, so that always chokes me up,” Swift says on the track.
She adds, “It transports me right back to that actual memory of standing on that stage for the last time on that tour that was so important to me, and the tour that really inspired this album. So it’s the last track of the album and a really special one to me.”
A fan account dedicated to the Eras Tour has shared a bit more of the quote on X.

While there’s no current news about when Swift might return to Vancouver, some fans are heading to theatres around the region to watch The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.
Last year, a news release from Destination Vancouver suggested that the total economic impact of the three shows in Vancouver would be $157 million. Of that, $97 million would be spent on accommodation, food, beverage, retail, and transportation.
