Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas) issued an official statement following Hamas’s response to Trump’s plan, saying that “the Palestinian people are at a fateful crossroads. Our people today face a decisive and critical stage, requiring everyone to take responsibility for preserving achievements and moving forward toward freedom and a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.” He added that he is committed to continuing efforts for international recognition of a Palestinian state and full membership in the UN.
