The ESB has confirmed that some households in Donegal may not have their power restored until next week.
They issued the update this afternoon, as power restoration efforts are ongoing nationwide with the utilities provider claiming that more than two-thirds of premises that experienced power outages have now had supply returned.
A total of 49,000 households remain without power, many of which are in Donegal and the north-west.
“We expect to continue to make significant progress and believe that the majority of customers who do not have their supply restored today will have power restored by tomorrow night,” ESB said in a statement.
“However, some customers in the worst affected areas may be without power into the early part of next week. This is likely to include some customers in Donegal, which saw the highest wind speeds recorded during Storm Amy, and in areas across the northwest.”
People are advised to keep an eye out for updated estimated power restoration times on the ESB’s PowerCheck website at www.powercheck.ie.
ESB advise anyone experiencing an outage to sign up for the “keep me updated” service on PowerCheck so they can receive daily status updates on repairs.
