A man and two women have been arrested after gardai seized €252,000 worth of cannabis in Co Wicklow.

The man, aged in his 20s, and both women, aged in their 20s and 50s, are currently detained in Garda stations in Co Wicklow.

Gardaí and Revenue Officers discovered the 12.6kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €252,000 as part of intelligence-led operations earlier today.

The joint operation was carried out by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Bray Drugs Unit, the Bray and Arklow District Detective Units and Revenue’s Customs Service.

Revenue Officers seized approximately 6.6kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €132,000 in Co Wicklow.

In a subsequent search approximately 6kg of herbal cannabis was located, bringing the total to 12.6kg, estimated to be valued at €252,000.

“Gardaí arrested a man, aged in his 20s, and two women, aged in their 20s and 50s, who are currently detained in Garda Stations in Co Wicklow under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
