Connor O’Neill’s Everton player ratings following the dramatic 2-1 win over Crystal palace at Hill Dickinson StadiumJack Grealish scored Everton’s late winner(Image: Getty Images)
Jack Grealish’s stoppage time winner sent Hill Dickinson Stadium wild as Everton rallied to beat the previously unbeaten Crystal Palace. Summer signing Grealish – who had been told to shoot more by David Moyes before the game – was on hand to bundle home the winner from close range to spark jubilant scenes by the Mersey.
Palace led at half-time through a strike from Daniel Munoz, and they could and perhaps should have been further ahead but Jean-Phillipe Mateta missed two glorious chances. liman Ndiaye then punished Palace when he levelled from the spot, before Grealish’s late winner.
Connor O’Neill brings you the Everton ratings.
OPINION
Jordan Pickford – 9
Single-handedly kept Everton in the game. Made three great saves in the first-half and another in stoppage time. Without him, the Blues would have been dead and buried at the break.
Jake O’Brien – 6
It looked like he was set to endure another tough afternoon in the first-half, but he grew into the game. Slotted in at centre-back comfortably as well when Keane went off.
James Tarkowski – 6
Endured a first-half to forget and was bailed out by Jordan Pickford when he let the ball bounce in his own box. However, he stuck at it and ensured Jean-Philippe Mateta didn’t always have things his own way.
Michael Keane – 7
Didn’t put a foot wrong again. Was outstanding in the first-half when those around him struggled. A huge blow when he went off injured.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 6
Still doesn’t look 100 percent fit. Got caught in two minds for Daniel Munoz’s goal. Could also do better in the final third; however, you can’t fault his attitude.
Idrissa Gueye – 6
Spent most of the first-half chasing shadows. But he did produce a number of key interceptions, one of which came as Palace looked to break with the game level.
James Garner – 7
Similar to Gueye in the first half, in the second-half he showed why he has been one of Everton’s most important players so far this season. Didn’t put a foot wrong when he moved to right-back either.
Tyler Dibling – 4
Replaced at the break after really struggling in the first-half. Nothing came off for him, and he couldn’t get in the game. Anonymous at times.
Jack Grealish – 7
Rewarded for trying to make things happen at the death. A big moment for him and the club’s supporters. Before then he looked to test Dean Henderson when he could, something he hasn’t been doing.
Iliman Ndiaye – 6
Scored from the penalty spot, but struggled in the No.10 role. However, in the second-half he was much more effective and needs to remain on the left moving forward.
Thierno Barry – 4
Another who was replaced at the break. He tried hard but never looked like scoring or getting the better of Marc Guehi.
Substitutes
Charly Alcaraz (on for Dibling 46) – 8
A brilliant second-half display. Changed the game when he came on and was involved in everything that was good about his side.
Beto (on for Barry 46) – 7
Never looked like scoring, but he made an impact and managed to give the Palace defenders something to think about. Played a big role in the winner as well.
Tim Iroegbunam (on for Keane 65) – 7
His best performance so far this season. Looked like the player who started last season.
Seamus Coleman (on for Ndiaye 99) – N/A
On at the death.
