SAINTS MIDFIELDER KEEN TO STAY
St Kilda midfielder Jack Steele remains “steadfast” on staying at the Saints, despite the club saying he was free to explore other opportunities if he desired.
Steele stepped down from St Kilda captaincy last week but still has two years remaining on his current contract.
According to AFL Media’s Cal Twomey, Steele isn’t keen to pursue a move himself, but if another club pursues him he’d be more likely to consider it.
Twomey has labelled Essendon a “watch” in Steele discussions, as the Dons look to add some experience to their list given they’re set to lose a wealth of experience.
The Dons are also in the hunt for Gold Coast’s Brayden Fiorini and currently have a bumper draft hand with five selections in the top 30.
Twomey reports that West Coast and Adelaide are not expected to pursue Steele, while the Giants are more focussed on Clayton Oliver.

PIES OPT AGAINST FATHER-SON
Collingwood has told father-son prospect Tom McGuane it won’t be committing to him in the national draft.
AFL Media’s Cal Twomey reports that the Pies have kept the door ajar for a rookie spot, but have made no promises to the talented prospect.
McGuane is the son of former Pie Mick and is now available in the open draft pool to the rest of the competition.
The Western Jets product spent some time playing with Collingwood’s VFL side in the back half of 2025 after averaging 28 disposals with the Jets in the Coates Talent League.
He also performed well in the Combine testing over the weekend, where he ran a 6:20 min 2km time trial and a 2.93 second 20m sprint.
