German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that his country should withdraw from Eurovision if Israel is disqualified. In an interview with a German broadcasting authority TV program, Merz was asked whether Germany should withdraw in such a case and he replied: “I will support that. I think it is a scandal that this is even being discussed, Israel belongs in Eurovision.”
