Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, leveled harsh criticism against Israel, claiming it is carrying out a “massacre” in the Gaza Strip. Parolin has held the position since 2013, essentially serving as a prime minister and foreign minister of the Vatican. In an interview published ahead of the second anniversary of the October 7 massacre, Parolin said the Israeli attacks are “inhuman and indefensible” – while also calling on Hamas to release the hostages.
