Police say the fire that damaged a tour bus connected to Ice Cube’s Truth to Power: Four Decades of Attitude tour does not appear to have been a targeted attack, per KPTV.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, when the front wheel of a charter bus caught fire near Southwest Oak Street and Broadway. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and ventilated the smoke from the bus. While initial reports referred to the vehicle as Ice Cube’s personal tour bus, the rapper has since clarified that it belonged to his crew.

“Wasn’t my bus,” Cube wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “It was a crew bus. Parked in front of the hotel. Everybody was upstairs sleeping. Nobody hurt. No equipment damaged. A coward set fire to the bus. My bus was actually in Oakland getting serviced.”

In a follow-up interview with Portland outlet KGW, Cube added, “I’m not taking this incident as a personal attack. A coward like that would burn anybody’s property that was out there at the time.”

A spokesperson for Portland Fire & Rescue confirmed to Complex that crews responded to “reports of a vehicle/charter bus fire” that morning and found the “front passenger side tire aflame.” The bus, the department said, “is owned by a professional agency and not privately owned.”

Portland Police echoed that assessment in a statement shared with FOX 12, noting that the incident “looks to be a random act of vandalism with no evidence of an incendiary device used to initiate the fire.”

Authorities say the investigation remains open as officials review area surveillance footage to determine what caused the blaze.
