Police are investigating a sudden death aboard an international flight which was diverted to Yellowknife on Sunday morning.
In a news release Monday, RCMP said they were notified on Sunday that a passenger aboard KLM601 was unresponsive. The plane then made an emergency landing at Yellowknife Airport.
According to FlightAware, the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines plane was en route from Amsterdam to Los Angeles.
RCMP said that in Yellowknife, a 34-year-old woman was taken to hospital and pronounced dead, despite lifesaving efforts by medical professionals on the flight and first responders on the ground.
No other details have been released.
The N.W.T. coroner’s service is also investigating the death.
