Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek said she continued to push back against a looming troop deployment as U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem arrived Tuesday in Portland.

Kotek met with Noem at a private jet hangar for about 20 minutes shortly after the Trump Cabinet member deplaned around noon at Portland International Airport. In a statement, Kotek said she asked Noem to instruct Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to obey Oregon laws while conducting federal operations.
