Bay filly Wootton Bassett – Jawlaat (Shamardal)
The Castlebridge Consignment
This daughter of the much-missed Wootton Bassett was one of the pre-sale highlights as a half-sister to Dubai Turf scorer and Queen Elizabeth II runner-up Facteur Cheval.Â
Also a half-sister to the stakes-winning Queen Of The Mud, she is out of the Shamardal mare Jawlaat, a half-sister to triple Group 3 scorer Tantheem.

Second dam Riqa is in turn a half-sister to Listed winner and Prix du Jockey Club third Motamarris and to Wadyhatta, the dam of Irish Derby hero Santiago, dual Group 1-placed La Joconde and last year’s 20-length Irish St Leger Trial scorer Grosvenor Square.Â
Given the very sad loss of Wootton Bassett, it would be no surprise to see his progeny in even greater demand (if that’s possible given his sensational run of form)Â

B c Blackbeard – Liberisque (Equiano)
Glenvale StudÂ
From the first crop of Coolmore’s champion juvenile Blackbeard, Glenvale Stud’s colt is in possession of some very timely updates courtesy of half-brother Arizona Blaze.Â
Amo Racing’s son of Sergei Prokofiev has been a tough and talented performer and gained a first Group 2 success in the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh in July before bouncing back from Nunthorpe defeat for top-level victory in the Flying Five Stakes.Â

Glenvale Stud will be hoping for another big result here after the team’s No Nay Never sister to Blackbeard and 2025 Norfolk Stakes victor Charles Darwin sold to MV Magnier for €1.9 million at Goffs Orby last week. You can read James Thomas’s report here on the seven-figure filly. Â

Br c No Nay Never – Millisle (Starspangledbanner)
Watership Down Stud
Watership Down Stud brings its usual strong draft to Park Paddocks and this No Nay Never son of Cheveley Park Stakes winner Millisle could prove another highlight.Â
No Nay Never has been in fine form of late with Cheveley Park victress True Love and the aforementioned Goffs Orby sale-topper and this brown yearling could add to those highlights.

Millisle has already produced the highly regarded Alfareqa – who sold to Shadwell for 1.6m guineas at Book 1 in 2023 – and this mating is one with copious amounts of speed and precocity.Â
Lot 307
B f Dubawi – Nohand (Dansili)
Longview Stud
A beautifully bred daughter of Dubawi from a very current Wertheimer family, this filly is a highly attractive proposition both as a racehorse and a broodmare for later on.
She is out of the winning Dansili mare Nohand, a daughter of Group winner and brilliant producer Balladeuse. Nohand can count two Prix Vermeille winners as her half-siblings in Left Hand and Aventure, the last-named a winner of the Longchamp Group 1 this year.
Aventure: winner of this year’s Prix Vermeille
Nohand is also a sister to the Group 1-placed Romanciere and Listed scorer Bilissie, both of them now black-type producers.

Ch c Sea The Stars – Queen Of Comedy (Kingman)
WH Bloodstock
In my preview with Violet Hesketh of WH Bloodstock this colt was described as “an exceptional first foal and is strong with great size.” Let’s hope he can play a major part on the second day of the sale.Â
The Daylesford Stud-bred son of Sea The Stars – on song with this weekend’s Arc hero Daryz – is out of a Kingman sister to the high-class King Of Comedy. That colt won in Listed company and was also a narrow second to Circus Maximus in the St James’s Palace of 2019.Â

This colt’s dam, Queen Of Comedy, is also a half-sister to Prix de Diane heroine Star Of Seville and Sweet Solera Stakes and Fillies’ Mile third English Ballet.Â
