The Pharaohs are headed back to the World Cup.

Two goals from Liverpool talisman Mo Salah lifted Egypt to a 3-0 win in over Djibouti in Casablanca and gave them a place in next summer’s tournament.

The Pharaohs join the previously qualified Morocco and Tunisia as representatives from AFCON.

Next summer’s World Cup, set to be co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, will be Egypt’s fourth appearance at the tournament. Egypt previously appeared in 1934, 1990 and 2018. In the latter two tourneys, the Pharaohs didn’t escape the group stage.

While success has evaded them at the World Cup, Egypt has been a powerhouse at the Africa Cup of Nations, winning the tournament on seven occasions including a run of three straight from 2006 to 2010.
