A former Love Island star has earned a major recognition from the British royal family this week.
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, Prince William appointed Georgia Harrison a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle after she was first listed for the recognition on the King’s 2025 Birthday Honours List in June for her efforts to tackle “online privacy and cyber crime awareness.”
Harrison, 30, delved into advocacy on behalf of women’s digital rights after her former partner, Stephen Bear, was found guilty in a revenge porn case against her in 2022, PEOPLE previously reported.
The conviction came after he shared a sex tape of the two of them on the subscription site OnlyFans. In March 2023, he was sentenced to 21 months in prison, but was released early, the BBC reported.

Award recipients are recognized at Investiture ceremonies and receive their honors in person from a member of the royal family. About 30 investitures are held annually, with more than 60 recipients at each ceremony, according to the official website of the royal family.
As she received her award, Harrison curtsied in front of Prince William before he bestowed her with the recognition.
She said that the future King told her he had followed her story. “I feel exhilarated. I just didn’t realize how magical the moment was going to be. First of all, I was so happy when I found out it was Prince William,” she told reporters.
“I really was hoping that he might be one of the people who was giving it and, you know, I had really found when I was receiving the award, that he took such a genuine interest in everything that I’d done, been following my story, and that really meant a lot to me,” she added.
Speaking to the BBC., she said: “It was such an amazing opportunity, and I’m really grateful, and I’m 100% going to continue to step up in my campaigning.”

“And if anything, this is going to be something that really drives me to continue to evoke change for women everywhere, and I’m really grateful to be given such responsibility,” she added, per the outlet.
It’s been a busy year for the former reality star and author — in April, she shared online that she and her partner, Jack Stacey, are expecting their first baby together in November.
