Police have arrested a 41-year-old gang associate for the robbery of a Hamilton restaurant on Father’s Day.

On September 7, staff at Chartwell’s Smith & McKenzie Steak House were preparing for a busy day ahead when three people arrived in a stolen vehicle at around 11.20am.

Police said two of the offenders were heavily disguised, and presented a firearm at staff and stole a small amount of money.

They all then fled the scene. The vehicle was then located a short time later by police.

Detective sergeant Matthew Lee said a search warrant was conducted in Enderley early this morning with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad.

“We also located ammunition, drugs, multiple stolen vehicle sand stolen property.”

Two women arrested, drugs concealed in child’s blanket

Police said two women were also arrested at the property after walking out with children.

“We found cash and a large quantity of methamphetamine in a handbag concealed under a young child’s blanket.”

One woman, aged 24, was charged with possession of methamphetamine ad utensils, and has been bailed to reappear in the Hamilton District Court on October 16.

The other woman, aged 41, had bail opposed, and was charged with possession for supply of methamphetamine and possession of LSD and ecstasy. She is set to appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow morning.

The 41-year-old man appeared in the Hamilton District Court today, charged with aggravated robbery, taking a motor vehicle, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

He was remanded in custody and is set to reappear on October 31.

Staff at the restaurant, who had earlier told 1News of they were “shaken” by the incident, were pleased with the outcome, police said.

“I would like to reassure the community that police are working exceptionally hard to ensure public and business owners are safe and feel safe in our communities,” Lee added.
