A 14-year-old girl has tragically died at the scene of a three-car crash in Queensland‘s Bundaberg region.

The teenager was travelling as a passenger in a white Mazda CX-5 with a 22-year-old driver when they were involved in a collision on the Bruce Highway at Apple Tree Creek before 2am.

Police said an initial investigation suggested a Volvo prime mover truck was travelling northbound along the highway when it collided with the Mazda and a white Toyota Hilux, which were both travelling in the southbound direction.

The teenager died at the scene while the 22-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a 22-year-old man, was not physically injured in the crash.

The driver of the truck, a 31-year-old man, was also not physically injured.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area and expect delays.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and appealing for dashcam footage.
