Poland has experienced an increase in cyberattacks from Russia, which has tripled its military intelligence resources targeted at the country this year, according to the country’s digital affairs minister.
In the first three quarters of the year, there have been 170,000 cyber incidents, many linked to Russian entities. Poland faces 2,000 to 4,000 incidents daily, with 700 to 1,000 being significant threats. Russia’s focus has expanded from water and sewage systems to the energy sector.
Polish intelligence agencies have gathered information on Russia’s growing cyber activities, but exact figures and methods were not disclosed.
Russia denies such claims. Poland, viewed as a key target by Russia among NATO nations, faces efforts to undermine its national security. The minister highlighted that Russian activity poses the greatest risk to critical infrastructure.
Following a Russian drone attack on September 10, a major cyberattack occurred, spreading false narratives about Ukraine’s involvement, utilizing dormant bots to influence Polish cyberspace.
