Kailyn Lowry is mourning the loss of her estranged father, Raymond Lowry, who died at age 66 after battling stage four COPD.
The Teen Mom alum reconnected with her father just two weeks before his passing after learning he had entered hospice care. The meeting was only their second since her childhood, as he had been court-ordered to stay away from her growing up.
On the Friday, October 10 episode of her Barely Famous podcast, Lowry, 33, reflected on their final conversation. “If I would’ve just had the opportunity to tell him that I’m not mad anymore, I really appreciate the time that you gave me … I don’t know if that would’ve made a difference for him or not,” she said. “It’s more that piece of it is more for me, just to let him know that I’m not mad anymore, that part of it, that sucks.”
Lowry admitted she felt conflicted after his death. “Monday was really hard for me,” she said. “And it was weird because I’d cry and then I’d be fine and then I would cry and then I’d be fine as if nothing was happening.”

She explained that her feelings were complicated because she had been disconnected from him most of her life. None of her seven children ever met their grandfather. When she showed him photos during their final visit, he “literally said nothing.”
Lowry previously shared that she once tried to see her father in 2019, but he turned her down. She later learned that he had attempted to visit her when she was younger but was prohibited after being charged with kidnapping her as a child.
“When grief and closure collide, it’s never simple,” she captioned the podcast episode where she opened up about the experience.
