Two cars narrowly avoided colliding head-on following what police have described as an “antisocial driving incident” involving a vehicle suspected to have been involved in “street racing”.

The incident, which involved a grey VW Golf R on La Grande Route des Sablons, just before La Rocque Harbour, occurred at around 22:10 on Saturday 4 October, officers said.

It was reported that the vehicle was travelling from Gorey towards St Helier when it crossed the central white line and narrowly missed a car heading east.

The car travelling east stopped and the driver spoke to a pedestrian, but the VW driver did not stop.

The near-miss was caught on video by a passerby – footage which has now released by police in the hope of finding out more about what happened.

Please note: This video contains swearing.

Officers said they were seeking to get in contact with the driver and passenger in the car heading east.

They would also like to hear from any witnesses, and anyone with dashcam footage of the grey VW in the Gorey area or anyone with information about a grey VW Golf R involved in “street racing”.
