An Australian man has been found dead in a hotel in Thailand.

The Phuket News first reported that the man’s body was found on Wednesday morning in Thalang, north Phuket.

He had identified as a 23-year-old who was due to check out of the hotel the next day.

Police told the Phuket News the man was found lying on his bed in a black t-shirt, still holding his mobile phone.

There were no signs of foul play or any forced entry to the room.

The man was reportedly bandaged on one arm, but friends said this was the result of a motorcycle accident

“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian who died in Thailand,” a spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade told the SMH.
