A teenage boy was stabbed after thugs said to be wielding knives and machetes ran amok in east Manchester last night (October 10).

The terrifying violence broke out in the Ryder Brow area of Gorton late ysterday evening. Officers were called to Ryderbrow Road to ‘reports of a group of males attacking others with machetes and knives’, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

There they found a 17-year-old boy with ‘injuries consistent with a stabbing’. The same boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The fighting is believed to have taken place on nearby Wayland Road where a cordon remains in place this morning.

A footpath that runs between Wayland Road and Winning Hill Close is currently taped off.

Officers are standing guard at either end whilst specialist, forensic, crime scene investigation (CSI) officers can be seen working inside the cordon.

They have been seen placing yellow evidence markers at various points on the footpath.

It covers the areas of: Hyde Road, Mount Road, Barlow Road, Longford Road West, Gorton Road and Reddish Lane.
