Hamilton Police have arrested a prohibited driver and seized a loaded firearm following an early morning incident.

At approximately 6:20 a.m. on October 9, 2025, patrol officers responded to reports of a male passed out behind the wheel of a red Dodge Ram pickup truck parked with its engine running in a townhouse complex near Upper Wentworth Street and Stonechurch Road East.

Officers determined that the registered owner of the vehicle was a prohibited driver known to police for violence and fleeing from law enforcement. Patrol units boxed in the vehicle before approaching and knocking on the driver’s window. The male eventually woke up and attempted to flee, striking two police cruisers in the process.

Police were forced to break the vehicle’s window to remove the driver and place him under arrest. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun with 10 rounds of ammunition in the centre console. The firearm was seized as part of the investigation.
